Operation Package Protectors

This upcoming holiday season is going to be one of the most delivery/mail dependent holiday seasons we have seen due to the ongoing pandemic. Families are going to be shipping packages all over the world to help celebrate these festive seasons and it is helpful to have someone looking out for those packages.

With that in mind, it’s important to note that an estimated 36% of Americans have been victims of “porch pirates” — thieves who steal packages from peoples’ porches. Locally, we do not want to make this holiday season any more difficult than it already is by having packages stolen, so, thankfully, the Lansdale Police Department has stepped up to the task here in Lansdale Borough.

Over the next few weeks (Monday, Nov. 16 – Sunday, Dec. 20) Lansdale Borough residents can have any package that weighs less than 25 pounds shipped directly to the Lansdale Police Station (1 Vine St. Lansdale, PA 19446), where you can come pick it up within three days of delivery. This service is 100% free of charge and will ensure that anyone concerned about theft will have a safe place to send their packages. Delivery will be accepted from Amazon, FedEx, and UPS. Anything from the USPS (United States Postal Service) cannot be delivered to the Lansdale Police Station.

To pick up a package, please bring proof of purchase or receipt that shows the package was sent to LPD in your name. After showing the necessary information we will be able to formally “deliver” your package to you.

We are a community, and we must look out for one another. This program is a simple way for our Lansdale Police to ensure that our residents can make the most of the holiday season despite the pandemic and the unfortunate reality of porch pirates who are looking to make the holiday even more challenging for residents.
